Ben Speciale, Yamaha Marine’s President, addressed the world in July of 2021 via YouTube regarding the product supply chain. Taking into consideration the age of this video (almost a full year now), a lot of the issues are leftover even as the world begins to get back to whatever “normal” means now.

Considering the age of the video, some of the information is no longer relevant to the current supply chain (e.g. the Texas ice storm), but other things like the effects the pandemic has and will continue to have. Ben explains that the pandemic will have long lasting effects on supply chain, going well past the time we conquer the pandemic. The lack of personnel at sea ports, continued increase in demand, and strict adherence to Covid protocols are all elements that are adding to the delay of receiving parts and boats.

Other things, like the war in Ukraine, are hindering manufacturer’s ability to receive vital minerals that are required in the making of computer chips that control various elements of boats. The nickel market has slammed to a halt as almost “20% of world’s class 1 (or high purity) nickel today comes from the Russian mining company Norilsk Nickel, also known as Nornickle. (Grace Donnelly – Morning Brew) This is particularly impactful because nickel is lithium-ion battery manufacturers rely on heavily to produce their batteries.

We ask that you continue to be patient with us as delays among all our products occur. Please know that we have many parts, boats, motors, and accessories on order as you are reading this, but we are all subject to the supply chain issues the global economy in undergoing.
