2022 Bassmaster Classic Day 2 Recap
Sunny and 67, a beautiful second day to the 2022 Bassmaster Classic held at Lake Hartwell, South Carolina.
As we said, Jason Christie is someone to watch. He exploded into the weigh-in for Day 2 with 19lb-6oz of fish, rocketing him into a first-place position overall. Christie is sitting at 36lb-7oz total.
Kyle Welcher had another strong day bringing 17lb-10oz to the scales. Add that to the additional 18lb-13oz from day one and that brings him to a total of……36lb-7oz. Wait, that sounds familiar…
Welcher and Christie share the number 1 placement after the second day of the tournament which makes for an exciting third and final day. This is truly anybody’s tournament with less than a 4lb spread between the top 10 slots.
Bryan New just couldn’t keep up with the 17lb and 18lb figures brought by the two leaders. At only 13lb-7oz he was able to stay in the top three slots, but only just barely. He came in only a single ounce over Lee Livesay, who sits in 4th currently.
Hank Cherry had a phenomenal day racking up a whopping 19lb-9oz at the scales. This allowed him to make some serious headway and climbed up that leaderboard to 11th place. He now sits a mere 4lbs-14oz under Christie and Welcher. This remains a sizeable gap, but with another near 20lb day he may have a real shot at the top slot once again.
